What we collect

Two forms on this site collect personal information.

The custom order inquiry on the Custom Orders page asks for your name, email address and phone number, the kind of event, the date and time you would like to pick up, what you would like us to make and the details for each item (writing, flavors, colors or theme, servings), and anything else you want to tell us. If you ask for delivery, it also asks for the delivery address, a delivery time, and the name and phone number of the person receiving it. You can also attach up to four inspiration photos. Your browser shrinks each photo before it is sent.

The campus delivery order on the Campus Deliveries page asks for your name, email address and cell number, your student's name and cell number, their college and delivery address, whether you would like us to text your student a heads-up before we arrive, the delivery date, what you are sending (with flavors and quantities), the note you would like handwritten, any allergies, the occasion, and anything else you want to tell us.

We use these details to answer your inquiry and to make and deliver your order. You do not have to use the forms: you are always welcome to call or email us instead.

Where it goes

• Each form is emailed to our shop inbox, mrskelderscakes@gmail.com, through Postmark, a service that delivers email on our behalf. Inspiration photos travel as attachments on that email.
• A copy, including any photos, is added to our private order system so we can keep track of orders in one place. It is run for us by Whitecap Data, who built and look after this website.
• A backup copy of what you typed (without the photos) is kept with our website host, Cloudflare, for up to one year, so an order is not lost if an email goes astray.
• To stop spam, your IP address is held for 10 minutes when you send a form, so the same connection cannot send more than five in that time.

None of it is sent to an advertising service.

Hosting

This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare records routine request information, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Cloudflare also adds its Web Analytics script to our pages. It counts page views and measures how quickly pages load, and it does not set cookies. It is separate from the analytics described below and is not controlled by the cookie choices on this site.

Other services our pages load

• Google Fonts. The lettering on this site is loaded from Google, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page opens.
• Google Maps. The map of the shop at the foot of every page is embedded from Google Maps. When it loads, Google receives your IP address and browser details under Google's own privacy policy.
• Facebook and Instagram. These are plain links. Nothing is loaded from either site unless you click one.

Cookies

This website sets one cookie of its own, and only to remember your answer to the cookie banner:

• kelders_consent remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. It lasts one year. It is set whichever you choose, because otherwise we would have to ask you again on every page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it is set to "declined" and the banner is never shown.

The analytics described below run without cookies on this site. There is no advertising, no cross-site tracking and no social media pixel anywhere on this site.

Analytics

If you accept, we use Matomo to see which pages people find useful. It is self-hosted by Whitecap Data at matomo.whitecapdata.com, so the information stays on their server and is not sent to an advertising network.

Matomo records the pages you view, the website you came from, your browser and type of device, and an approximate location such as country or region. It is set up so that:

• two bytes of your IP address are masked before anything is stored, so the full address is never kept;
• the query string is removed from the address of the page you came from;
• the raw record of each visit is deleted after 90 days, and only the totals (such as page views per month) are kept, for 25 months;
• there are no heatmaps and no recordings of what you do on a page.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, Matomo does not record your visit, even if you accept. If you decline, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control, Matomo is never loaded at all.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw your consent at any time: open your cookie choices and choose Decline. Matomo stops loading from the next page you open. Clearing this site's cookies in your browser also resets your choice, and the banner will ask again.
